The dashboard layout

An orientation tour of the agent dashboard UI.

The dashboard layout

The agent dashboard is the main workspace where you spend your shift. It's designed to surface incoming calls, the active session, and your earnings without ever needing to navigate between pages. Once you're logged in, here's what you see and how to use each piece.

The header

At the top of every page is a fixed header with three zones:

  • Left: the YumKiosk logo and the name of the business you're working for.
  • Center: the status pill — tap to toggle between Offline, Available, Busy, and Break. Only Available makes you eligible to receive incoming sessions. Busy is used automatically while you're in a call. Break stops the clock so you're not billing your employer during lunch.
  • Right: your avatar, a quick link to earnings, and the notifications bell.

Your status is synced in real time to the owner dashboard so they can see who's on and who's not.

The sidebar

The left sidebar has four primary destinations:

  1. Dashboard — the landing screen with incoming calls and your current session.
  2. Sessions — a history of sessions you've handled, filterable by date and status.
  3. Earnings — your shift log and per-day earnings breakdown (see Earnings and shift tracking).
  4. Settings — your profile, password, 2FA, and notification preferences.

The sidebar is collapsible on smaller screens — click the hamburger icon to toggle.

The dashboard screen

When you're Available and not in a call, the dashboard shows a live queue of incoming sessions. Each one is a card with:

  • The kiosk name and business location.
  • The time the session was requested (live ticking).
  • An Accept button and a smaller Dismiss (if permitted by your role).

Multiple sessions can be in the queue at once in a busy period. The oldest waiting session is highlighted with a pulsing border so you pick it up first — this minimizes customer wait time and helps your accept latency metric.

The active session screen

The moment you click Accept, the dashboard transitions to the active session layout — a three-pane split:

  • Left pane: live video of the customer at the kiosk. A mute button, a "hide my camera" toggle, and a small self-preview are overlaid at the bottom.
  • Middle pane: the menu, organized by category with search and photos.
  • Right pane: the cart, with line items, modifiers, subtotal, tax, and an End session button.

Everything you do in the middle pane — adding items, changing quantities, applying modifiers — is broadcast live to the kiosk so the customer sees the cart build up in real time. This is one of the key UX touches that makes YumKiosk feel different from a phone call.

Notifications and sounds

Incoming sessions trigger a soft chime (you can disable it in Settings). Browser notifications are supported too, so if you tab away for a second, you'll still see the call request pop up in the corner of your OS. On mobile agents can install the dashboard as a PWA from the browser menu for an even more native feel.
